Disillusioned features nine artists who explore the tension between illusion and material. This collection of work includes text, photography, paint, fabrics, hand-made paper, video, and found objects in different combinations to confront the materials' integrity and ability to communicate. Installation offered another creative process. How can the exhibition space and the artworks enrich one another? Participants were able to physically alter the space and redefine their work within its context. While the themes and subject matter may vary from piece to piece (i.e. political action, beauty, consumerism...), the works come together as a group in their clear and bold approach in testing forms of visual communication.

This juried show put on by the Student Gallery Board "celebrates" the student Art Star.
Selected for their prima donna attitudes, airs of superiority, grandiose size, and various levels of humor these works epitomize the sheer awesomeness of a true art star. Vain, egotistical, self-referential, and under the impression that bigger is indeed better, this body of work is both ironic and completely honest with itself.

This show is a collection of work made by current senior textile majors over their years in the department. An accurate representation, the show evolves in the space parallel to the process of exploration of textile designers and artists. Small samples or “swatches” eventually develop into larger pieces or lengths of fabric. Like the department, the work is divided by their formal and structural qualities: hand-woven samples, computer aided and jacquard woven yardage, machine knit fabrics, and painted or printed lengths. In our senior year we each focus on one of these areas of work, but being a small and closely-knit textile class, we are still connected by these common threads.
